Transport Van Aperen strives to deliver your goods safely to their destination in a timely manner and at the right price. Good communication and the necessary flexibility are crucial in this regard and is something everyone on the team, drivers, planners and all other employees, holds in high regard.
Over the years, the transportation company has grown and evolved but has always maintained its personal and family character.
Transport Van Aperen has been run with great enthusiasm and passion by the Van Aperen family for many years and has its origins in the 1930s when it was founded by Arnold Van Aperen.
In 1951, son Frans and his wife Anna took over the torch but in turn passed it on in 1988 to son Jul Van Aperen and his wife Maria Deckers, who are still active in the business today.
In 2001, Transport Deckers bvba also joined the Van Aperen family, followed in 2009 by the company Couwels & Co, an Antwerp-based freight forwarder specializing in transport to and from Switzerland. Together with Eddy Van Limbergen, the Van Aperen family takes over the staff and operations of Couwels and they are incorporated into a new company Couwels & Co NV.
Both offices and staff moved at that time from Noorderlaan in Antwerp to Wuustwezel, 20km north of Antwerp.
In 2015, Eddy Van Limbergen retired and all shares came into the hands of the Van Aperen family.
Since 2017, the fourth generation Koen and Martine Van Aperen, son and daughter of Jul and Maria, have been at the helm of the transport company while still being supported daily by their parents.
Because the sister companies Transport Van Aperen and Couwels & Co are so intertwined, as 9 of Transport Van Aperen’s 11 trucks travel daily to Switzerland for Couwels & Co, it is decided to merge the two companies in 2024 and appear as one company: Couwels – Van Aperen.
The common thread throughout the history of the family business is service, quality and personal contact, ensuring their continued growth year after year.
With a healthy dose of Belgian flexibility, the entire team strives for Swiss perfection.
